Delhi Pollution: IMD Issues Orange Alert! Dense Fog To Persist Amid ‘Severe’ AQI And Cold Wave

On the worsening weather conditions, Dr Soma Roy from IMD told ANI that a dip in minimum temperature is expected to continue in the capital.

Delhi Pollution: Delhi woke up to another day of toxic air on Thursday, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the severe plus category. The overall AQI was recorded as 448 at 6 am with the temperature dropping to 7°C. GRAP Stage IV remained in effect in the national capital amid deteriorating pollution levels.

Visibility was reduced as a layer of fog engulfed the parts of Delhi and adjoining areas like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram during the morning hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert and said dense fog conditions will prevail in the city for the next two days due to western disturbances. On the worsening weather conditions, Dr Soma Roy from IMD told ANI that a dip in minimum temperature is expected to continue in the capital.

Additionally, the cold wave has forced many residents of Delhi to seek refuge in night shelter homes.

AQI In Different Parts Of Delhi

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 6 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (467), Alipur (447), Rohini (477), ITO (477), Ashok Vihar (471), Wajipur (482), Shadipur (436), Mundka (457), Jahangirpuri (477), Narela (439), DTU (457), R.K. Puram (462), Anand Vihar (478), Pusa (441), and Punjabi Bagh (475).
