Karnataka Assembly Polls 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released its second list of 23 candidates for the upcoming election in Karnataka.
The official handle of the BJP Party tweeted, “The Central Election Committee of the BJP has decided the names of 23 candidates, in the second list, for the ensuing general elections to the legislative assembly of Karnataka”.
A total of 7 sitting MLAs could not make it to the second list.

According to the list, Nagaraja Chabbi who has joined BJP recently from Congress has been given the ticket from Kalghatgi Consituency.
Ashwini Sampangi the daughter of ex-MLA Y Sampangi will fight from Kolar gold fields (KGF).
NR Santhosh, who is a close relative of former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, has not found a place in the second list. GV Basavaraju has got ticket to contest from Arsikere constituency.
The party has given ticket to Deepak Doddaiah from Mudigere constituency. Kumaraswamy, the sitting MLA from Mudigere, could not make it to the list. BJP has given ticket to Gururaj Gantihole from Bindur seat. He replaced sitting MLA Sukumar Shetty who did not get the ticket.
Legislator Virupakshappa’s ticket also cut
In the newly released list, Shivakumar has got ticket from Channagiri which was the seat of Madal Virupakshappa. It is to be noted that no one from Madal Virupakshappa’s family has found a place in the list.

Recently the family of Madal Virupakshappa was involved in a corruption case which led to an FIR and a raid by the Lokayukta.
Now only 12 constituencies candidates are yet to be announced
BJP is yet to announce candidates for 12 constituencies which include Hubli Dharwad Central, Krishnaraja, Shivamogga, Mahadevapura etc.

Earlier, BJP on Tuesday released the first list of candidates for 189 out of 224 seats for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections and the second list was released on Wednesday night. By combining both the lists, candidates for 212 out of 224 assembly seats have been announced. The Karnataka assembly elections will be held in a single phase on May 10, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 13.
