Gurmeet Ram Rahim, 4 Others Acquitted In Ranjit Singh Murder Case After 22 Years

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and four others were acquitted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the murder case of former Dera manager Ranjit Singh.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and four others in the murder case of former Dera manager Ranjit Singh. The High Court issued the order after allowing Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s appeal against his conviction.

Avtar Singh, Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, and Sabdil Singh were the other accused in the case, with one of them passing away during the trial.

Ram Rahim Was Convicted In Rape Case 

In 2019, a CBI court in Panchkula convicted Gurmeet in a rape case and two murder cases involving the killings of a journalist and former Dera manager Ranjit Singh. On October 18, 2021, the court sentenced Rahim and four others to life imprisonment in the case.

The Dera chief challenged all his convictions before the Punjab and Haryana High Court. However, the court has not yet ruled on his appeals in the rape case and the journalist murder case. Rahim is currently serving his sentence in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail.
