As many as 25 students of classes five to eight sustained severe cut marks from a blade on their hands in Munjiyasar village of Amreli, Gujarat. As school staff spotted the cut marks on several students, the news spread in the village, and the village panchayat was informed. Following the investigation, it came to light that students played “truth and dare” for Rs 10. During the game, they self-harmed to win the game.

Following this information, (ASP) Jayveer Gadhvi along with senior police officers reached the spot and scanned the CCTV footages. According to a police officer, ‘Cops also recorded the statements of students, and it was revealed that they were playing a truth and dare game to win Rs 10 and dare, they cut their hands using blades’.

School principal Harsaban Makwana said, “After investigating the incident, we alerted the parents of students and called them to school. They (parents) were informed about their children’s actions, and they were asked to counsel them.”
“Students apologised for their act and promised in front of their parents that they will never repeat such a mistake,” added Makwana.
As the incident took place between students during a play, police officers warned them to not repeat such incidents. Education minister Praful Pansheriya also took cognisance of the incident and directed officials to take necessary action.
