New Delhi: Earthquake tremors were felt in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale struck north-northeast of Lucknow in the early hours of Saturday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. The earthquake occurred on the night of Friday-Saturday at 1.12 pm. The depth of the earthquake was 82 km below the ground.

NCS tweeted in this regard, writing, “Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude, 20-08-2022, 01:12:47 IST, Latitude: 28.07 & Long: 81.25, Depth: 82 km, Location: 139 of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Kimi came on NNE.”

Earlier on Friday, mild tremors of earthquake were felt in Pithoragarh area of ​​Uttarakhand. The intensity of the quake was measured at 3.6 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at 12:55 pm.

NCS tweeted, “Earthquake of 3.6 magnitude: 19-08-2022, 12:55:55 IST, Latitude: 29.96 & Long: 80.12, Depth: 5 km, Location: 43 km NNW occurred at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.”

Earlier, another earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale struck south-southwest of Henle village in Jammu and Kashmir.
