New Delhi: Hours later former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar tendered resignation as an MLA, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s veteran leader B.S. Yediyurappa said the public will never forgive him.
Talking to press person, BJP loyalist Yediyurappa lashed out at Shettar for his decision to exit the saffron party after the latter was denied a ticket to contest from Hubli-Dharwad Central Vidhan Sabha seat. Despite several offers apart from the MLA ticket, Shettar “chose himself over the party” said a source to the news agency ANI.
Shettar was the sitting MLA from the constituency until this morning when he submitted his resignation to Speaker Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri.
The move shaked the BJP leadership as Shetter is one influential leader in the state who helped bagging several victories to the party
BS Yediyurappa who has vowed to vouch for the BJP across the state for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Polls 2023 said, “We made him (Jagadish Shettar) the CM of Karnataka, and we made him the state BJP president. The statements given by him have made us unhappy. People knew about Jagadish Shettar only because of BJP.”
“People from Karnataka will not forgive Jagadish Shettar. Dharmendra Pradhan had offered Jagadish Shettar, a ministerial position in the cabinet. We had offered a ticket to Jagadish Shatter’s family. But he did not respond to it,” added Yediyurappa.
Despite last-minute attempts and potentially impressive offers by the saffron part as mentioned by Yediyurappa, Jagadish Shatter resigned as MLA.
