New Delhi: A case has been filed against a suspect who dragged two traffic police officers for about 20 meters with a car while they were on duty in southwest Delhi, officials reported on Sunday.

Incident Details
The incident took place on Saturday evening at around 7:45 PM near the Ber Sarai traffic light close to Vedant Deshika Marg. The two injured officers, Assistant Sub-Inspector Pramod and Head Constable Shailesh Chauhan, were conducting routine checks for traffic violations when the situation escalated. According to officials, a vehicle jumped a red light, and when Shailesh signaled for it to stop, the driver attempted to flee, dragging both officers for approximately 20 meters before speeding away.
Eyewitness Account and Response
Visuals from the scene show the Maruti Suzuki Fronx making a U-turn with the officers clinging to the bonnet, urging the driver to stop. After around 20 minutes, the vehicle finally came to a halt. A call to the police control room reported that an unknown vehicle had struck traffic officers on duty and fled the scene.

Medical Condition of the Injured Officers
A police team quickly responded and found that the injured officers had been taken to Safdarjung Hospital by a PCR van. Upon reaching the hospital, officials confirmed that both Assistant Sub-Inspector Pramod and Head Constable Shailesh Chauhan were conscious and in stable condition.
Charges Filed and Vehicle Owner Identified
Based on the officers’ accounts, a case has been registered against the driver for attempted murder, obstruction of official duty, and endangering public safety. While the injuries sustained by ASI Pramod and Head Constable Chauhan were reported as minor, police noted that the driver’s intention appeared to be lethal. The owner of the vehicle has been identified as Jai Bhagwan, a resident of Vasant Kunj, and authorities have stated that he will be arrested soon. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
