An incident in Delhi where a police officer was seen kicking Muslim men praying on the road during Friday prayers has caused widespread outrage. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter after a video of the incident surfaced. Overcrowding at a mosque in the Inderlok area led to a large gathering, resulting in some men resorting to praying on the road.

While the Friday prayers were ongoing, a group of police officers arrived at the scene and tried to scatter the crowd. A video capturing the incident depicted one of the officers kicking and striking men who were in the midst of their prayers, kneeling down.

The incident triggered significant outrage, with the crowd surrounding the police officer and protesting against his actions. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) MK Meena released a statement acknowledging the incident and confirming that an investigation into the matter has been launched in response.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi posted a video of the incident, expressing his concern “This Delhi Police soldier kicking a person while offering namaz probably does not understand the basic principles of humanity. What is this hatred that is filled in the heart of this soldier? Delhi Police is requested to file a case against this official under appropriate sections and terminate his service”
At the same time, the police issued an appeal to the public to uphold peace.
