Covid update 31 December: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 226 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, with a daily positive rate of 0.12%, on Saturday.

On Friday, India reported 243 new Coronavirus cases. With this, the number of active cases in the country reached 3,653, bringing the total number of cases registered in the country since the pandemic began in 2020 to 4,46,78,384.

According to the health ministry, a total of 4,41,44,029 persons have recovered since the outbreak began, with 179 recoveries occurring in the last 24 hours.

(Covid update 31 December) Active cases account for 0.01 percent of total infections, with a recovery rate of 98.8 percent.

The daily positivity rate was 0.12%, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.15 percent, according to the ministry.

The death toll was 5,30,702.

In the last 24 hours, the country did 1,87,983 tests, for a total of 91.07 crore tests.

More than 220.10 crore vaccine doses have been administered to eligible persons across the country as part of the countrywide vaccination programme. Approximately 91,732 dosages were provided in the last 24 hours.

So far, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has provided 220.10 crore total vaccine doses (95.13 crore second dose and 22.40 crore precaution dosage).

In response to the global outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, all international passengers travelling to India from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand will be required to undergo mandatory RT-PCR tests before departure and upload a report to the Air Suvidha portal beginning January 1, 2023, according to Union Health Ministry sources on Thursday.

According to Union Health Ministry sources, the next 40 days will be critical since India may experience an increase in COVID cases towards the middle of January. According to the sources, the judgement was formed after analysing the historical trends of the country’s COVID increase.

Because of reports of an increase in COVID cases in various countries, the operational readiness of health facilities in all states and union territories is being assessed in case of another wave.

A recent increase of Covid cases has been detected around the world, owing to the BF.7 variety, which is thought to be the principal source of the increase, particularly in nations such as China and the United States.
