Delhi govt calls emergency meeting on rising Covid cases
The Delhi Government called for an emergency meeting to review the situation in Delhi when the national capital reported 300 Covid cases and 2 deaths due to Covid-19. The meeting has been called by Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj which will see the attendance of senior health department officials, medical directors of state-run hospitals and other stakeholders, news agency PTI has reported. As far as Maharashtra is concerned, cases rise there as well with Solapur and Sangli districts topping the Covid-19 positivity chart with 20.05% and 17.47% rates respectively, in March, said the state health department on Thursday. It added that 4 weeks ago, the state had a positivity rate of 1.05% but between March 22 and 28, it reported 6.15%. The districts with a rise in positivity rate include Solapur (20.05%), Sangli (17.47%), Kolhapur (15.35%), Pune (12.33%), Nashik 7.84% and Ahmednagar (7.56%). The positivity rate indicates the number of cases detected per 100 tests, as per the news agency PTI. Haryana government has issued fresh guidelines and asked all health facilities to record the travel history of a suspected case having travel history to a country or an area where the virus has been reported.
The number of people who have recovered surged to 4,41,68,321, while the fatality rate was recorded at 1.19%. According to the ministry's website, 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.
