Following a change in government in Andhra Pradesh, allegations have surfaced against YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) accuses Jagan Mohan of spending ₹500 crores to construct a palace, alleging that the funds were misappropriated through corruption.
According to claims, Jagan Mohan Reddy discreetly built the palace atop Rushikonda Hill in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), using extensive barricades. TDP asserts the property was intended as a camp office for Jagan Reddy, who previously designated Vizag as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
According to TDP’s tweet, Rushikonda Palace is purportedly the most opulent in the nation. They question whether Jagan constructed it legally, using ₹500 crore of public funds, prompting calls from Andhra Pradesh residents for a comprehensive investigation.
TDP stated, “When his wife requested a beach-view palace, he broke all the rules, wasted hundreds of crores of public funds, and now he’s sharing stories? But what about those pictures of the bathroom? Is it really that big? What exactly were you planning? Who did you design this for?”
In another tweet, TDP shared images, stating, ‘The Italian marble and tiles used in Rushikonda Palace are stunning. The cost per foot of this marble could allow a middle-class person to afford a small apartment. This beach-view palace, built by Jagan Reddy in Rushikonda, uses materials typically reserved for royal palaces.’

YSRCP clarified that the buildings in Rushikonda are government-owned, not private property, and belong to no individual. These structures were built by the previous government to prioritize Visakhapatnam. It is up to the current government to decide their use. Since 1995, Chandrababu has claimed Visakhapatnam as the financial capital. He has served as Chief Minister four times. Whether it’s a Prime Minister, President, Chief Minister, or Governor visiting, there is no proper building to host them. Taking pictures inside Rushikonda Resorts and showing negative aspects might give emotional satisfaction, but the people of Visakhapatnam are not doing that!
In reply, TDP said, ‘You claimed these buildings are for the President, Prime Minister, and other dignitaries. Then why did you install a spa in the bathroom? Will they come here for massages? Why are you attributing your bold actions to honorable leaders?’
This structure, consisting of seven blocks, stands out from traditional tourist accommodations. The design showcases a level of architectural grandeur and sophistication reminiscent of a high-level corporate office or a prestigious government building. Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹450 crore, this hotel may not currently be suitable as a star hotel. Some special modifications would be needed to convert it into a tourist resort or a private luxury hotel. The complex was developed on 9.9 acres in Rushikonda. The blocks feature banquet facilities, state-of-the-art conference halls, wide corridors, and magnificent lighting.

Each commode is reported to cost over ₹10-12 lakh. The luxurious furniture inside has shocked people. The size of the toilet in Rushikonda Palace is four times larger than a poor man’s house. All the work for the lavish interior was given to Supriya Reddy, the wife of his close confidant and IT advisor, Devireddy Srinath Reddy.
