After twin attack in Jammu, Bharat Jodo Yatra resumes amid tight security

New Delhi: The Bharat Jodo Yatra is all set to resume its journey on Tuesday (January 3) after a 9-day long break. The padyatra will head towards Ghaziabad to start its Uttar Pradesh leg.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will begin the ‘padyatra’ from Hanuman Mandir in the Yamuna Bazar area tomorrow, said Delhi unit president Anil Chaudhary on Thursday.

“We inspected the routes from where the Bharat Jodo Yatra will resume on January 3. Rahul Gandhi along with other leaders will resume the yatra from Hanuman Mandir in the Yamuna Bazar area and head towards Loni in Ghaziabad,” the news agency PTI quoted Chaudhary.

Rahul Gandhi’s Security Breach  

On December 28, 2022, the Congress wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and alleged that during the yatra, Rahul Gandhi’s security was breached. Meanwhile, the part asked the home minister to ensure Gandhi’s security.

Reverting to the Congress’ allegations, officials said the security arrangements works fine when the protectee himself adheres to the laid down security guidelines.

Countering the Congress’ accusation, the officials also said that there were several times when Rahul Gandhi disregarded the security guidelines. It said these violations were also communicated to him but there were no improvement in his actions.

Congress points out at loopholes in security arrangements

Meanwhile, Congress leader Anil Chaudhary accused that there were “loopholes” in security arrangements from Badarpur area but the situation got worse at Red Fort.

“There were loopholes in the security right from when the yatra entered via Badarpur border in Delhi. The situation got worse as it reached Red Fort later in the day. The yatra has to go to Punjab and Kashmir too and hence, enough security arrangements should be made for it,” said the Congress leader.

On the ocassion of New Year, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi wished everyone for the new year saying that the “Mohabbat ki dukaan” (Shops of love) will open at every corner of the nation.
