Congress MP Rajeev Shukla shows mirror to Central govt during Sankalp Satyagraha at Rajghat

Sankalp Satyagrah: Following Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a defamation case by a Surat court and the subsequent disqualification from the Lok Sabha, the Congress leaders, led by National President Mallikarjun Kharge, staged a one-day Sankalp Satyagraha at Rajghat in Delhi on Sunday.

While addressing the party workers at Rajghat, Congress MP Rajeev Shukla recited a sher of Bashir Badr to show a mirror to the BJP-ruled Central government. He said, “Shohrat ki bulandi bhi pal bhar ka tamasha hai. Jis daal pe baithe ho, wo toot bhi sakti hai…”

“If you believe we will remain in power indefinitely, we will be here for 50 years, nothing will happen, then you are making a huge mistake.”

‘People brought Indiraji back with 350 seats’

Rajeev Shukla also brought up a 45-year-old incident, “When Indiraji was booted out of the Privilege Committee on a minor issue, the people rallied with 350 seats to bring her back. The 2024 election is just around the bend.” He advised the workers to be patient because “we’re all with you.”

Modi’s picture larger than Bapu’s?

Rajeev Shukla inquired of the party workers, “Why have we all come to Rajghat today? Have you ever wondered why we are engaging in Satyagraha? Why was it felt that we should follow in Bapuji’s footsteps? What was the symbol of Bapuji?”

Rajeev Shukla stated, pointing to a photograph at Rajghat, “I’m not referring to the image displayed in the corner by the Modi government. Gandhiji’s photograph is one inch smaller than Modi’s photograph.”

‘Sher ko sawasher milna chahiye’

Rajeev Shukla added, “Kharge ji is present, and I stated that an example has been identified. We also have a group of attorneys. We should also begin to file defamation. Gandhi was a nonviolent preacher who yearned for action. ‘Sher ko sawasher milna chahiye.’ We never claim defamation. We let it go every time. Nothing is going to happen from this.”

Which judges are anti-national, according to law minister?

“Kiren Rijiju, the country’s Law Minister and a former Congressman, claims that many Supreme Court judges are anti-national. There could be no more serious defamation case than this. We should approach the Attorney General. Inform him of the identity of the anti-national judge or you might take them to court.”

Something will happen only if we are active

Rajeev Shukla emphasised the importance of unity. “Nothing will happen until we take the initiative,” he stated.

When Shaheed Bhagat Singh went to court, he used to chant, “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab humare dil mei hai… Waqt aane par bata denge tumhe ae aasmaan. Huma abhi se kya bataaein kya humare dil mei hai…”
