New Delhi: Addressing the World Bank programme ‘Making Personal: How Behavioral Change Can Tackle Climate Change’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that we could not fight climate change from conference tables alone, it would be fought from the dinner tables in every home.
PM Modi emphasised that it will be a mass movement only if people together started discussing climate change.
“Climate change cannot be fought from conference tables alone, it has to be fought from the dinner tables in every home. When ideas move from discussion tables to dinner tables, it becomes a mass movement,” said PM Modi.
Prime Minister suggested the mantra of Chanakya to fight against Climate Change.
“Chanakya once said, ‘small drops of water when they come together, fill up a pot’, similarly knowledge, good deeds or wealth add up gradually… When millions make the right decisions for our planet, the impact is huge,” said PM Modi.
He further said, “There is a need for mass movements and behavioural transformation, India shows the way to tackle climate change. Be it Mission LiFe, use of LED bulbs, micro irrigation, natural farming, or promotion of millets”.
In his address PM Modi said, “Under mission LiFE our efforts are spread across many sectors, by making local bodies environment friendly, adopting of healthy lifestyles, natural farming or promoting millets”.
