As the calendar inches towards winter, the weather in India is undergoing a noticeable shift, bringing about changes in temperature and atmospheric conditions. Recent reports indicate that the effects of winter are becoming evident, with cold winds and a drop in temperatures observed in various parts of the country. The onset of winter is marked by recent snowfall in hilly areas, contributing to a chill that has started permeating the plains.

 Weather Conditions in Delhi-NCR

Following a night of rainfall on November 10, Delhi experienced a noticeable increase in chill, with cold winds sweeping through the city on Sunday morning. Light fog covered Delhi-NCR in the early hours, giving way to clear skies as the day progressed. The maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR dropped by 7 degrees below normal after the Friday night rain. On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded in Delhi was 26 degrees, with a minimum of 13 degrees, signifying a distinct change in the weather.

 Western Disturbance and Its Impact

According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance is becoming active in the country, leading to changes in weather patterns. Many districts in Uttarakhand are expected to witness rain and snowfall, while Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh may also experience similar conditions. The plains, including parts of Bihar, may witness rain, adding to the prevailing cold. The western disturbance is expected to bring rain to several areas in North India in the coming days, along with foggy conditions in Delhi.

 Weather Across the Country

As per meteorological predictions, many districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, may experience intermittent rain, akin to the conditions observed on Saturday. Snowfall is expected in Chamoli, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar. In Rajasthan, active western disturbance led to light rain, while Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh witnessed snowfall, impacting visibility. Jammu and Kashmir’s higher reaches experienced snowfall, causing road blockages due to heavy rain in the plains. Scattered rain is anticipated in West Bengal and Sikkim, while light rain may occur in Arunachal Pradesh.

 Southern States and Rainfall

Southern states are also witnessing changes in weather conditions. Reports suggest light rain in the region over the next two days, with cloudy skies expected in Chennai and Bengaluru. Telangana may experience isolated light to moderate rain with thunder, while Konkan-Goa and Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Pune, are predicted to receive light or moderate rain.

The evolving weather patterns across India signal the gradual transition into winter, with variations observed in different regions. As the cold sets in, it becomes crucial for residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and adapt to the changing conditions. Additionally, authorities should remain vigilant to address any challenges that may arise due to the evolving weather, ensuring the well-being and safety of the population during this seasonal shift.
