Five persons including a Delhi Police constable were arrested on Thursday morning for abducting two young stock traders from Delhi and demanded Rs one crore ransom. Acting on a complaint from one victim’s family police quickly coordinated an operation in 12 hours, the officers rescued the two stock traders from the house on Pataudi Road.
ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya said three of the suspects had previous criminal records. The group had been monitoring one of the victim for the last couple of days before they kidnapped him, Aman, a 21 year old from Civil Lines. The accused are named as Sunil, 32, a constable with Delhi Police, Kuldeep of Intal village, Rishipal of Aawli village and two others aged 21, from Sector 10 Sunil and Deepak.

The incident began at around 3:30 p.m., on the Wednesday when Aman, traveling with his friend Ganesh(20) in an SUV to Galleria Market. The kidnappers blocked their path with a hatchback in Sector 15 Part-2. Wearing his police uniform, Sunil, along with the others, disguised as officers and arrested Aman and Ganesh and restrained them in a house at Pataudi Road. En route, the kidnappers assaulted the victims and made them to seat on the floor of the car, so as not to see their whereabouts.
Among from the kidnappers, two of them then used Aman’s phone to call one of his friends with a message telling his family that he had been kidnapped, and to ask for Rs 1 crore for his release. The families of both were informed when the victims phones were switched off and the matter was reported to the police. In response, officers planned for a decoy with the ransom bag and caught two accused, Sonu and Deepak near Sriram Dhaba on Sohna. During this operation two officers were injured.
After arresting both the accuseds, policemen went to a house in Amar Colony, Pataudi Road, to rescue the two victims and to arrest Sunil. Another was nabbed from Apex Society in Sector 37-D where Rishipal and Kuldeep were caught who were waiting for ransom money.
Police commissioner Vikas Arora commended the team’s effort and rewarded the team with Rs 1 lakh for acting promptly in the situation. Police informed that Kuldeep, who knew Aman personally, first planed the kidnapping with Rishipal and Sunil thinking that the family of the victim was capable enough to pay the required amount of money.
