CAA: After the Centre implemented Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, Jawaharlal Nehru University issued an advisory asking students to maintain peace and harmony at the campus in the wake of the ongoing students’ election process.
The centre notified the rules four years after the parliament have given nod to the contentious law.
In the advisory released by the university in late Monday night stated that the currently the student election process are going on and several programmes and events are being organised by the students in the case.

“All stakeholders are requested to contribute in maintain peace and harmony and remain vigilant in the campus”, the university said.
The university administration further recites its zero-tolerance policy against any kind of violence and indiscipline on campus and appealed to the all stakeholders and students to refrain for such activities.
However, the university administration did not mention the reason behind the advisory that if it released in connection with the Centre’s move.

Following the centre announcement of the notifying CAA rules on Monday, protests broke out on the Jamia Millia Islamia campus, prompting a substantial police presence at the university. Security measures were heightened across various areas of Delhi, with paramilitary forces conducting nighttime patrols and flag marches in the northeastern districts including Shaheen Bagh, Jamia Nagar, and other sensitive zones, were also being conducted in the capital.
