Justice Rohit B Deo: Justice Rohit Deo, who was presiding over a court at the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court, stunned the court on Friday by resigning from his position. Justice Rohit Deo submitted his resignation in an open court, saying he cannot work against his self-respect.

He told lawyers at the court, “I am sorry to inform you that I have resigned. I can’t work against my self-respect. You people work hard.”

When he announced his resignation, many lawyers were also present in the court. According to the bar bench, Justice Rohit further said, ‘I apologise to all of you. I scolded you because I want you to improve. I don’t want to hurt any of you because you are all like family to me and I am sorry. I have submitted my resignation. I can’t work against my self-respect. You guys work hard”.

After Justice Rohit Dev announced his resignation, all the cases listed before him were dropped. Justice Dev took over the charge of Justice at the Bombay High Court in 2017.

Justice Dev hits headlines for these decisions

Justice Rohit Dev has been in the headlines many times for his decisions. In 2022, he acquitted former Delhi University professor GN Saibaba in an alleged Maoist link case.
