Vanita Raut, an Independent candidate hailing from Chimur village in Maharashtra, has made an unusual electoral pledge ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Running under the banner of the Akhil Bhaarateey Maanavata Party, Raut has promised to offer subsidised whiskey and beer to constituents if elected to office.
“अगर पीने वाले के पास पीने का लाइसेंस हो तो वो लिमिट में शराब पीयेंगे और घर भी बर्बाद नहीं होंगे”: वनिता राउत ने कहा

Her unconventional promise aims to cater to the needs of the underprivileged population, with plans to establish beer bars in every village. Additionally, Raut has proposed utilizing the MP fund to provide free imported whiskey and beer to those in need within her constituency.
She expressed her electoral priorities by stating, “Where there’s a village, there’s a beer bar. These are the issues I’m focusing on.”
Vanita Raut defended her unconventional pledge by proposing a rationing system for imported liquor, requiring both the consumer and the vendor to hold licenses. She argued that many impoverished individuals find solace in alcohol but can only afford low-quality options, often leading to excessive consumption and resulting in detrimental effects. Raut emphasized her desire for them to experience imported liquor responsibly.

Addressing concerns about alcohol abuse and its impact on families, Raut advocated for licensing as a means of control. She suggested that granting licenses only to adults would promote responsible drinking and help mitigate the negative consequences associated with excessive alcohol consumption.
Despite facing repercussions for her similar promise in previous elections, including the confiscation of her security deposit, Raut remains steadfast in her stance, refusing to alter her approach for the current election cycle.
