Bihar is the land of Nalanda, it has given the nation a number of scholars including the first President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Teaching has been treated as a pious profession in Bihar and across India. But seems like theories have changed with the passing decades, at least the latest video from Bihar, doing rounds on the internet says so.

Teacher scolds, students assault

A teacher in a school situated in the Kaimur district of Bihar scolds a 10th-grade student. How will anyone perceive this? Doesn’t it look like any random incident? Being scolded or punished by a teacher has been a common norm in India unless the teacher beats the child black and blue or breaks his bones. However, the response from the students to the stimuli was so shocking that it made headlines.

New picture of Bihar schools?

The student in response to the scolding lifted the chair and threw over his teacher. The incident got so intense that the class changed into a ruckus and other students accompanied him in thrashing the teacher. The video which is circulating on social media shows a group of teachers trying to mediate between the students and the teacher. Meanwhile, other teachers can also be seen assaulted at the hands of students.

The students have accused the teacher of using abusive words while scolding him which led to this chaos whereas the teacher continuously refutes such allegations.

Reactions pour in

Dozens of reactions have poured in from the netizens who have strongly criticized this mishappening while there are a few who have raised concerns about the quality of teachers who have been recruited in Bihar. People have also reacted to the quality of education in the government schools of Bihar. “Students like this should be given a TC and thrown out of the school. Incidents like this may affect others as well”, wrote a user. “No wonder why people laugh at us”, wrote another user who supposedly hails from Bihar.
