Bihar Police said that a 26-year-old man was beaten to death for accidentally dialling the phone number in Bhojpur, Bihar on late Saturday night evening.
The victim in this tragic incident has been identified as Rakesh Singh, the son of Surendra Singh from Majhauan village situated on the outskirts of Ara town.
According to an account reported in TOI, Rakesh’s friend and an eyewitness, Raushan Kumar, spoke to the media at Sadar Hospital in Ara on Sunday. Raushan Kumar recounted, “We were standing near the Kali temple when Rakesh accidentally dialed the number of a fellow villager named Bhulchul, who became infuriated. An intense verbal altercation ensued over the phone between the two. Subsequently, around 9 pm, Bhulchul arrived at the scene and physically assaulted Rakesh by punching, kicking, and striking him with a stick. I was also subjected to an assault before Bhulchul left Rakesh unconscious near the temple. I managed to escape.”
Rakesh was rushed to Sadar Hospital by his family members, where he was declared as brought dead. Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav stated, “The family members of the deceased have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against four individuals with the Town police station. The accused individuals are currently on the run but will be apprehended soon.”
Tragically, Rakesh was scheduled to appear for the state constable recruitment examination on the same day. This incident transpired approximately a month after another distressing event in Bihar’s Katihar district, where a man was brutally assaulted, forcibly had his head shaved, beard removed, and was made to wear a garland of shoes. These actions were taken following allegations of molestation and harassment made against him by a woman.
