According to an account reported in TOI, Rakesh’s friend and an eyewitness, Raushan Kumar, spoke to the media at Sadar Hospital in Ara on Sunday. Raushan Kumar recounted, “We were standing near the Kali temple when Rakesh accidentally dialed the number of a fellow villager named Bhulchul, who became infuriated. An intense verbal altercation ensued over the phone between the two. I was also subjected to an assault before Bhulchul left Rakesh unconscious near the temple. I managed to escape.”

This incident transpired approximately a month after another distressing event in Bihar’s Katihar district, where a man was brutally assaulted, forcibly had his head shaved, beard removed, and was made to wear a garland of shoes. These actions were taken following allegations of molestation and harassment made against him by a woman.
