Patna: Vijay Kumar Singh, Jehanabad’s General Secretary of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), died allegedly after being severely injured in a Police lathi-charge in the state capital, Patna. 

BJP on Thursday held an assembly march to protest in support of teacher candidates and demand the dismissal of charge-sheeted Tejashwi Yadav from the post of Deputy Chief Minister. To stop the march, the Bihar Police lathi-charged BJP workers.  

Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi told that during the demonstration Jehanabad General Secretary Vijay Kumar Singh died after being hit on his forehead by Police personnel. 

“the police used lathis. After being hit with the lathi, he fell on the road, injuring his forehead. Even after falling on the road, the police continued to beat him. In a seriously injured condition, he was sent to Tara Nursing Home, where doctors declared him brought dead. Although later sent to PMCCH, there also the doctors declared him dead,” said Sushil Kumar Modi.

MP was also beaten

The Bihar police also lathi-charged BJP MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal and Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Sinha. According to information, Janardan Singh Sigriwal has suffered serious injuries.

BJP state president Samrat Chowdhary, former deputy CM Renu Devi and Jeevesh Mishra have been arrested by the police during the march.
