PFI Banned for 5 years

New Delhi: The central government has taken a big action against the Popular Front of India (PFI). The government has banned PFI in India. The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned PFI for 5 years.

PFI affiliated organizations were also banned

Apart from PFI, this action has also been taken against 9 other PFI affiliated organizations. These include Campus Front of India (CFI), Rehab India Foundation (RIF), All India Imam Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab Foundation, Allied organizations like Kerala have also been banned.

States were demanding ban on PFI

In fact, many states were demanding that the central government should ban the Popular Front of India.

National Investigation Agency (NIA), police of many states and other agencies raided the premises of PFI and made hundreds of arrests. Recently, NIA arrested PFI member Shafiq Paith from Kerala. During his interrogation, it was revealed that the Patna rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on the target of Popular Front of India.

ATS conducted raids in collaboration with NIA in Maharashtra. ATS sources have also informed that PFI was going to target union leaders. Recce was done at the headquarters of various Union Ministries.

Here are the reactions on 5 year ban on PFI

Police personnel have been deployed outside PFI state headquarters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This comes after Central government today declared PFI & other affiliated organizations unlawful for 5 years. 

The Social Democratic Party of India, condemned the ban on PFI and its associates. They went on to term it as an undeclared emergency by the BJP regime.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said, “PFI which raises ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans doesn’t have any right to raise such slogans in the country. Home Ministry will take action on that. Central govt has taken the right decision. It’s a country of patriots.”

Uttar Pradesh Deputy CMs Brajesh Pathak & KP Maurya said, “The country is appreciating the decision by Home Minister Amit Shah, we thank him… welcome the decision. To those opposing it, India will not accept it & give an answer.”

Chief Minister of Assam, Himnta Biswa Sharma said, “I welcome the ban on (Popular Front of India) PFI by the Government of India. The Government is firm in its resolve to ensure that anyone with a diabolical, divisive or disruptive design against India shall be dealt with iron fist. India of Modi Era is Decisive & Bold.”
