Ayodhya Ram Mandir Chief Priest Acharya Satyendra Das Passes Away

He was admitted to SGPGI on February 3 and was in the Neurology ward HDU after he suffered a stroke.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Chief Priest Acharya Satyendra Das (85) passed away at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) Lucknow today, February 12, 2025, the hospital confirmed. After suffering a brain stroke, he was admitted to SGPGI on February 3 and was in the High Dependency Unit of the Neurology ward. He initially received medical treatment at a private hospital in Ayodhya but was later moved to SGPGI for specialized medical care.

He was closely monitored by the Senior Consultant of the Neurology department. He was previously spotted celebrating the 1st anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ram Mandir on January 11. He was reportedly struggling with major health conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. At the age of 20, he embarked on the spiritual path and became one of the most admired saints in Ayodhya.

According to reports, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday visited SGPGI to check on the health of Mahant Satyendra Das. In an X post, the CM condoled the demise of the Chief Priest, saying, “The demise of Acharya Shri Satyendra Kumar Das Ji Maharaj, the supreme devotee of Lord Ram and the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Shri Ayodhya Dham is extremely sad and an irreparable loss to the spiritual world.”
