What is the 36 Year Old case?
On June 10, 1987, Mukhtar Ansari submitted an application to the district magistrate in Ghazipur for a double-barrel gun license. Subsequently, the license was issued using forged signatures of the district magistrate and the superintendent of police.
The fraud came to light on December 4, 1990, prompting the CB-CID to file a complaint with the police. As a result, a case was registered at the Mohadabad police station in Ghazipur against five individuals, including Mukhtar Ansari, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The charge sheet against Gaurishankar Srivastava and Mukhtar Ansari was submitted to the court in 1997. However, Gaurishankar Srivastava passed away during the course of the case proceedings. The prosecution recorded statements from 10 witnesses in the case.
