New Delhi: Bollywood’s Akshay Kumar on Thursday expressed deep concern over the disturbing video showing two women being stripped naked and paraded in a field during the ethnic violence in Manipur.

Earlier today, the ‘Hera Pheri’ actor took to Twitter and said he is “shaken and disgusted while responding to the horrific video of the sexual violence. “Such violent perpetrators should be punished so severely that it serves as a powerful deterrent against future acts of violence,” he said.

“Feeling shaken and disgusted to witness the violence against women in Manipur. I fervently hope that those responsible for this heinous act receive an unprecedented punishment, making it an example that prevents anyone from even contemplating such a barbaric act,” he added.

Meanwhile, taking a dig at him, The Opium Toffee’s author Khushwant Singh said, “I wish you had spoken before! All this is a result of a pervasive silence practiced by those who matter. Nevertheless, it’s heartening to see people from all walks of life come out and speak against this terrible incident. Regards.”

This comes after the nation’s head hanged with the shame after the video of sexual violence emerged from Manipur that is reported to be 3 months old.

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) claimed that the appalling incident took place on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, located 35 km from Imphal.

According to the police, however, the incident took place in another district, while the first information report (FIR) was lodged in Kangpokpi.
