BJP MP Jayant Sinha has asked party president JP Nadda to let him step back from direct electoral duties, making him the latest addition to the list of party leaders skipping the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sinha, who represents Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, is the second BJP MP to opt out after Gautam Gambhir’s earlier announcement.

In a statement on his official platform, the Member of Parliament representing Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, expressed “I have requested Honourable Party President JP Nadda to relieve me of my direct electoral duties so that I can focus my efforts on combating global climate change in Bharat and around the world. Of course, I will continue to work with the party on economic and governance issues.”

The announcements come as there are rumors that these two leaders might not be chosen as candidates for the 2024 elections. The BJP is reportedly thinking of selecting new leaders for tickets, and some current MPs have indicated they want to focus on other organizational tasks.
