New Delhi: Anti Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police has busted a drugs factory from Nalasopara area of ​​Palghar district. Police have recovered 703 kg of MDMA (methylenedioxy-methylamphetamine) from the factory. The drugs are estimated to be of worth Rs 1403 crore in the international market.

5 arrested including main supplier

The Anti Narcotics Cell has arrested 5 people including the main supplier. Preliminary police investigation has revealed that the accused used to carry out the supply of drugs in Mumbai and its adjoining areas through social media apps. This drug factory was being run under the guise of a drug factory.

Anti Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police got clues of this drugs factory located at 60 km from Mumbai. This was done after interrogating an arrested accused in the case of drug supply.

Drug peddler led the police to the drug factory

On 29 March 2022, a drug peddler was arrested by the Anti Narcotics Cell with 250 grams of MDMA. During interrogation, the links of Nalasopara’s drugs factory were found by the Mumbai Police. Investigating this link, the police team raided the drug factory of Nalasopara. He arrested the main supplier Prem Kumar Singh while recovering drugs worth 1403 crores from there. On his behest, three more accused were later arrested by the police.

Main accused used knowledge of chemistry to manufacture MDMA

Datta Nalawade, DCP, Anti Narcotics Cell said, “In the interrogation of these accused, a shocking modus operandi has come to the fore. According to the police, this drug factory was being run under the guise of a pharmaceutical company. Main supplier Prem Kumar Singh had very good knowledge of chemistry. Taking advantage of this, he used to make drugs himself in the drug factory and used social media apps to supply them.”

Used to sell drugs using social media apps

He further said, “Drug peddlers used to contact him through social media apps. Through these peddlers he used to supply drugs in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. This supply was going on for last several months.”

He also informed, “Mumbai Police is now trying to find out whether this drug smuggling has any connection with the underworld or Bollywood. Anti-Narcotics Cell has also started investigating in this direction. The police is currently trying to unveil all the links of this entire racket.”
