Ghaziabad: A 24-year-old man identified as Anil Kumar was allegedly beaten to death by a group of men on suspicion of theft. The incident occurred on Friday when Anil was loitering near furniture shops where several thefts had been reported earlier.
The assault took place around 2 am. Anil’s lifeless body was found six hours later in a green area near Tila Mor. Following the incident, a complaint was filed by the deceased’s mother, Meena, and as a result, three furniture shop owners were apprehended.
Shubham Patel, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the trans-Hindon area asserted that the obtained information regarding Anil’s body at approcimately 8 AM from a passerby. He highlighted, “It appeared that he had suffered fatal blows. There were no visible external injuries. A forensic team conducted an examination of the crime scene, and the body was sent for an autopsy.”
Subsequent to the identification of the body, Anil’s family was informed about the tragedy. The accused apprehended for being responsible for Anil’s death were identified as Akhlaq Khan (26), hailing from Badaun, Shubhan Khan (24), a resident of Tila Mor and Naushad (20 from DLF colony in Ghaziabad. As per the officials, the bought and sold second-hand furniture.
During the inquent, the trio revealed to the interrogators that they were vigilantly keeping an eye on their shops at night due to a series of thefts over the past month. They caught Anil around 1:30 AM when they found him loitering in the area. They came in action when he was trying to enter one of the shops.
The assault was carried out by six people. “They rained blows and punches on him. Anil was slapped after every question. Almost an hour later, they left him by the side of a road as he was too drunk. His body was found in a green belt six hours later,” the officer mentioned.
While three people involved are already under arrest, the police said that they are on the lookout for the others. The officials added that the FIR registered against the six people accused is under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
Anil’s mother admitted that his son was an alcoholic. However, she denied of him being a thief. As per the reports, Meena said that they were not concerned through the night when he left on Thursday as her son would often come home late.
