Dehradun: At least 12 people, including 2 women, were killed in a road accident near Joshimath in Uttarakhand on Friday.
The vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a 600-metre deep gorge. The accident took place on Urgam-Palla Jakhola motorway in Joshimath Block of Chamoli district.

The vehicle was said to be heading towards Kimana village from Joshimath, according to officials.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the accident, and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the kin of the deceased, reports Hindustan Times.
He has also ordered a magisterial probe into the accident.
