The highly anticipated film L2: Empuraan which is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and features Mohanlal, hit cinemas on March 27. One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the film was the identity of its main villian whose face was not revealed in any of promotional videos or photos.
Now, as the film is released in theatres this suspense is over.
Rick Yune Revealed As The Villain
It has been confirmed that the Korean-American actor Rick Yune is playing the villain in L2: Empuraan. Rick Yune who is known for his roles in Die Another Day, Ninja Assassin, Olympus Has Fallen and Tetris, is portraying the leader of the Shen Triad. The storyline hints at an intense conflict in Lucifer 3 where Khureshi Ab’raam’s Indo-Arab faction will face off against the Shen Triad.

Fan Speculation And Early Clues
Even before the release, many fans had suspected that there is Rick Yune’s involvement in the film. His character’s back shadow image in posters and trailers sparked online discussions. Suspicion grew more when a UK-based talent agency briefly listed Rick Yune and Andrea Tivadar as part of L2: Empuraan’s cast. However, the post was quickly removed.
Who Is Rick Yune?
Rick Yune was born in the United States to Korean parents. He is not only an actor but producer, screenwriter and martial artist as well. He made his debut as Johnny Tran in The Fast and the Furious (2001) and gained further recognition as Zao in Die Another Day.
He has played several villainous roles, including Kang Yeon-Sak, the mastermind behind a White House attack in Olympus Has Fallen.
With a history of playing intense villians and a strong martial arts background, Rick Yune was a perfect choice for the mysterious villain in L2: Empuraan.
