Renowned actor Mithun Chakraborty was hospitalized in Kolkata following complaints of chest discomfort on Saturday morning. According to a recent reports, the hospital where he is receiving treatment has provided an update on his condition. He has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of brain.

According to the latest reports, Mithun Chakraborty, the veteran actor, is currently fully conscious. Apollo Hospitals in Kolkata issued an official statement stating that Mithun Chakraborty, aged 73, was admitted to their Emergency Department at around 9:40 am. He complained of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. The hospital conducted necessary laboratory and radiology investigations, including an MRI of the brain, which revealed that he has suffered an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke). Despite this diagnosis, the statement mentioned that he is presently fully conscious, well-oriented, and has been consuming a soft diet.

The hospital’s statement also mentioned that Mithun Chakraborty is under the care of multiple doctors. A team comprising a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist is currently evaluating his condition further.

Earlier on Saturday, Mithun Chakraborty’s son, Mimoh Chakraborty, informed media  that his father was “100 percent fine” and clarified that it was a routine checkup. The veteran actor and BJP leader was brought to the hospital around 10:30 am.

Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in January 2024. Prior to this, he had been serving as a judge on the dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance alongside Mouni Roy, Subhashree Ganguly, Srabanti Chatterjee, and Puja Banerjee.
