The Kashmir Files Row: Swara Bhaskar to Ranvir Shorey, celebs react to IFFI jury head’s remark

New Delhi: Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid’s statement on Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, created a rage in the nation. Many celebrities came to the fore and slammed lapid’s remark.

On Monday night, while addressing the IFFI event, Nadav Lapid criticized the movie as, vulgar propaganda’.

Now many have reacted to the matter. Actress Swara Bhaskar said, “Apparently it’s clear to the world..”

Bollywood actor Ranvir Shorey said, “The singling out of a film and the language used to describe it is completely unbecoming of a film jury or critic. It reeks of politics. Cinema has always been the harbinger of truth & change, not an agent to stifle or snuff it. Shameful display of political opportunism at #IFFI.”

The Kashmir File actor Darshan Kumar told to ETimes, “Everyone has their own individual opinions on anything they see and perceive. But one can’t deny the fact is that The Kashmir Files is a film which has depicted the actual plight of the Kashmiri pandit community, who are still fighting for justice against the brutal acts of terrorism. So this film is not on vulgarity but on reality.”

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit tweeted, “#NadavLapid’s irresponsible statement against #KashmiriFiles is an insult 2 Indian filmmakers. I therefore appeal to Indian Filmmakers to stand by a fellow director @vivekagnihotri and denounce a foreigner, who mocked the genocide & ethnic cleansing of #KashmiriPandits.”

Anupam Kher, speaking on the matter said, “It seems pre-planned as immediately after that the toolkit gang became active. It’s shameful for him to make a statement like this. Jews have suffered Holocaust and he comes from that community. For him to make such a statement, he has also pained those people who have been victims of this tragedy many years ago. May God give him wisdom so that he does not further his agenda on stage using the sufferings of thousands.”
