New Delhi: Israeli envoy Naor Gilon condemned filmmaker Nadav Lapid’s remarks about the Indian movie, The Kashmir Files. Taking to his Twitter handle, israeli Ambassador to India, Gilon said that Lipid should be ashamed of himself and he ‘abused’ India’s invitation.
He tweeted, “As a son of a holocaust survivor, I was extremely hurt to see reactions in India to you that are doubting Schindler’s List, the Holocaust and worse. I unequivocally condemn such statements. There is no justification. It does show the sensitivity of the Kashmir issue here.”

Gilon’s reaction came after Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid criticized The Kashmir Files and termed it vulgar propaganda.
The Israel envoy slammed Lapid’s statements in a series of tweets. It is insensitive and presumptuous to speak about historical events before deeply studying them, said Naor Gilon.
In an open letter to Lapid, Naor Gilon wrote, “In Indian culture they say that a guest is like God. You have abused in the worst way the Indian invitation to chair the panel of judges at IFFI Goa as well as the trust, respect and warm hospitality they have bestowed on you.”
An open letter to #NadavLapid following his criticism of #KashmirFiles. It’s not in Hebrew because I wanted our Indian brothers and sisters to be able to understand. It is also relatively long so I’ll give you the bottom line first. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. Here’s why: pic.twitter.com/8YpSQGMXIR

Meanwhile, the director of the film Vivek Agnihotri did not directly reacted to this statement. Rather, he tweeted a cryptic post on Tuesday. He tweeted, “GM (good morning). Truth is the most dangerous thing. It can make people lie. #CreativeConsciousness.”
Anupam Kher, speaking on the matter said, “It seems pre-planned as immediately after that the toolkit gang became active. It’s shameful for him to make a statement like this. Jews have suffered Holocaust and he comes from that community. For him to make such a statement, he has also pained those people who have been victims of this tragedy many years ago. May God give him wisdom so that he does not further his agenda on stage using the sufferings of thousands.”
