New Delhi: Cash registers are ringing at the Japanese box office thanks to SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. According to the official trade reports, the movie broke Baahubali 2’s domestic record. RRR made over 305 million Yen (about Rs 17.5 crore) in revenue in just 34 days and is continuing to do well at the box office. The film starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR is the quickest Indian production to reach the 300 million Yen club.
RRR beats Baahubali 2 in Japan
On October 21, the film, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, was released in Japanese theatres. Both critics and viewers gave the film overwhelmingly positive reviews.
Trade reports on November 25 revealed that RRR has exceeded Baahubali 2’s record in Japan by earning more than 305 million Yen (Rs 17.5 crore approx). The movie broke Baahubali 2’s record and continues to do well at the box office. The first Indian movie to reach this milestone was RRR.
About the film
The fictional story RRR is based on the experiences of Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, two Telugu liberation warriors. The movie is directed by SS Rajamouli and was written by Vijayendra Prasad.
The lead actors were Ram Charan and Jr. NTR while supporting actors included Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson.
