Shaakuntalam box office collection Day 1: On April 14, Samantha’s eagerly anticipated movie Shaakuntalam finally hit theatres. The play Abhijnanashakuntalam by Kalidasa served as the basis for the movie. 

The audience and critics’ reactions were conflicted when it first started. Shaakuntalam got off to a sluggish start, earning barely Rs 5 crore on Day 1 at the box office, per early trends.

Shaakuntalam’s Box Office Collection

Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions of Shaakuntalam were shown on a sizable number of screens. The movie made Rs 5 crore across all languages on its first day, despite not drawing sizable audiences. In the Telugu states, Shaakuntalam had a 32.60 per cent overall occupancy rate.

About the Film

The mythical play Shaakuntalam was written and directed by Gunasekhar. Shakuntala, a play by Kalidasa, is the source for the movie. Dev Mohan will play King Dushyanta, and Samantha will play Shakuntala. 

Supporting actors include Mohan Babu, Gautami, Aditi Balan, and Ananya Nagalla. On February 17, The film will debut in theatres worldwide in a variety of languages.
