Two years ago, ‘Chhatriwali’ broke new ground in Indian cinema by tackling societal taboos through a light-hearted yet meaningful narrative. Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, the film followed the story of a chemistry graduate who takes up an unconventional job as a condom quality tester. Her stellar work was recognised with multiple awards, including Best Actress (OTT) and Best Actor (Female) – Popular Choice (Film).
As the film completes 2 years, Rakul looked back at it and shares, “Chhatriwali will always be one of my most special films because it spoke about a subject which is such a taboo in the society, but it touched upon many hearts and in such a simple and sweet way, it ignites a conversation that needs to be had. The kind of personal messages that I got from women post the release of the film will always be extremely special to me. I mean, that really touched my heart.”
