Popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been arrested in connection with the murder of his 33-year-old fan Renukaswamy. Authorities plan to take him to Mysuru to recreate the crime scene as part of the investigation.
According to police, Renukaswamy had reportedly sent some inappropriate messages to Darshan’s rumored partner Pavithra Gowda on social media. This angered the 47-year-old actor, who allegedly kidnapped and was found responsible for Renukaswamy’s murder on June 8th.
Officials said on Monday that a police team investigating the murder case looked into a private club in Bengaluru where Darshan and other suspects were reportedly partying when Renukaswamy was brought to the city.
The pub belongs to Vinay, who is also a suspect in the case and a friend of Darshan.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru Police called in another Kannada actor, Chikkanna, for questioning in the case.
Chikkanna, aged 37 and known for comic roles, was reportedly with Darshan on the night of June 8, when the crime occurred. It’s believed that Chikkanna was with Darshan before the actor went to the shed where Renukaswamy was kept and subjected to torture.
Police believe that after imprisoning Renukaswamy in the warehouse, the suspects went back to the pub to discuss their next steps.
