In response, Rohit Shetty shared a captivating anecdote, disclosing that Ajay Devgn had signed on for Singham without even knowing the script. Shetty explained, “We made Golmaal 3, Bol Bachchan, and then Chennai Express, and Singham was not in the pipeline at all. Suddenly, Reliance came to me with the DVD, saying ‘we have produced a film in Tamil, and if you want to see this film.’ Just during Golmaal 3 promotions, I watched the film and thought, ‘If we take the basic character from this and make changes, we can create a good action film.’ I felt that after Wanted, I could now make a mass film.”

He went on to explain, “So I narrated the basic idea to Ajay (Devgn), saying I watched a film and we can do something similar, and he was skeptical, saying, ‘Will you ever make this?’ I replied, ‘Let’s make it in the 4 and a half months you have free now.’ He was heading to London for some film commitments. It was around October-November when we decided, and he started shooting there. Since he had a beard for that film, I told him to just shave it off and start working on his physique. Importantly, he had no knowledge of the script.”

Rohit continued the narrative, saying, “We went to Goa in March, and that’s when we began filming. He arrived in Goa at 8 o’clock in the evening, looking physically fit for Singham. By 10 o’clock at night, I started narrating the script, and it was at 2 in the morning that he finally understood the film. Remarkably, he began shooting at 7 o’clock that same morning. That was the level of his conviction.”
