The musician’s health deteriorated following a cerebral attack last month. Initially receiving treatment at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, the 55-year-old artist from the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana later chose to continue his treatment exclusively in Kolkata. Sources indicate that Khan initially showed positive responses to the treatment.

Rashid Khan, born in Badayun, Uttar Pradesh, received his early training from his maternal grand-uncle, Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan (1909–1993). Notably, he is also the nephew of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.

Ustad Rashid Khan’s musical talents were initially recognized by his uncle, Ghulam Mustafa Khan, who provided him with initial training in Mumbai. However, the main and foundational training was received from Nissar Hussain Khan, initially at his residence in Badayun.
