New Delhi: On the occasion of late singer Lata Mangeshkar, Indian playback singer Shailendra Singh and famous musicians Anand-Milind will be awarded National Lata Mangeshkar Award on September 28.
According to an administration official, the award ceremony will take place at her birthplace Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
The award is given every year by the Madhya Pradesh cultural department to promote excellence in the field of music. It carries a cash prize of Rs two lakh and a citation.

Meanwhile, Shailendra Singh sang many songs during the 1970s and 80s. The singer is known for his unique voice. He will be conferred the Lata Mangeshkar Award for the year 2019.
Anand-Milind, who has composed music for more than 200 films, will be awarded the prestigious award for the year 2020, the official said.
Last time, the Lata Mangeshkar Award ceremony was organised on February 7, 2020, by the Madhya Pradesh government. Thereafter, it was postponed due to the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore on September 28, 1929. She was given the title ‘Nightingale Of India’, due to her distinct voice. Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022, due to multiple organ failures at the age of 92. The iconic singer got admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on January 8 after she was diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia.
Previously, artists including Naushad, Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle were conferred with this award.
