New Delhi: Since Henry Cavill announced his departure from his role as Superman in the DCEU, fans have been eager to learn what the studio has in store for the superhero’s path. James Gunn, who took over as co-CEO of DC Studios alongside producer Peter Safran in October, has remained vocal about the changes that are being made, including breaking his quiet on Wonder Woman’s future.
Recently, the director spoke on the state of the Superman project he is working on, as well as casting rumours.
Will Jacob Elordi replace Henry Cavill as Superman?
Following reports that Euphoria star Jacob Elordi might be taking up the role of DCEU’s most powerful superhero, Superman, director James Gunn took to social media to explain the situation. The filmmaker revealed that the project’s casting has not yet been finalised, implying that Elordi will not be replacing Henry Cavill.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “Casting, as is almost always the case with me, will happen after the script is finished or close to finished, and it isn’t. We’ll announce a few things in not too long, but the casting of Superman won’t be one of them.”
Jacob Elordi’s Hollywood career includes roles in The Kissing Booth trilogy and Euphoria, as well as an Elvis Presley biopic. The actor has yet to appear in a superhero film.
Henry Cavill’s success as Superman
As Superman, Henry Cavill amassed a tremendous fan base, and the news of his departure from the role devastated many hearts. The actor stated last month that he is not returning to the role after meeting with Gunn and Safran. His announcement comes nearly two months after he informed his fans that he would wear the cape again after an appearance as the DC Comics superhero in Black Adam.
