New Delhi: After returning for the mid-credits scene in Black Adam, which was released over the weekend and marks his first time in the character since 2017’s Justice League,Henry Cavill shared a video reiterating his promise to play the DC hero in subsequent movies.
“I wanted to make it official — I am back as Superman,” Henry Cavill said in a video. He thanked the fans, “most of all. Thank you for your support and for your patience.” He added that what audiences saw in Black Adam is a “very small taste” of things to come.

Although no writers or directors have been hired, Cavill will play Superman in at least one standalone film, marking his first acting role since 2013’s Man of Steel. As DC Films undergoes a makeover under the leadership of new Warners film chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, other film cameos may potentially follow.
The Instagram video had been planned for weeks, with the release date set for the weekend following Black Adam’s premiere, when a sizable portion of the public would watch his comeback.
Additionally, the timing preserved the theatre experience for the film.
It was a difficult journey to return Cavill to the cape. The notion of a cameo was initially rejected by then-DC film chief Walter Hamada, who had plans for Superman, to Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson and his team. However, Johnson went behind Hamada’s back to De Luca and Abdy, who started their posts in July and approved of the plan. Johnson’s manager Dany Garcia also represents Cavill.
However, it remained uncertain whether an agreement to cast Cavill in the film could possibly be reached. Superman was first portrayed by a body double as the Black Adam team test-screened the scene without revealing the character’s face. After the arrangement was finalised last month, Cavill shot his part of the scene in London.
Cavill encourages Instagram creators and fans to remix the video, audio, and photo elements on their IG reels so that viewers may have fun with the image and video. In the coming days, Cavill’s favourites will be posted on his Destinations channel.
Cavill and Superman have travelled a long way together. He was given the late actor Christopher Reeve’s costume during the casting process by Zack Snyder in 2010. In Snyder’s Man of Steel, Cavill made his debut as Superman. He then returned for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). His continued portrayal of the character was in jeopardy in 2018, according to The Hollywood Reporter, due to a creative reorganisation at DC.bei
Earlier, in an interview with THR, Cavil talked about being tentatively open to a return. He said, “As I always say, ‘The cape is still in the closet.’”
