Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty, entangled in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, recently shared her experience surviving imprisonment. Arrested in connection to his death, she spent nearly a month behind bars. From managing meals to navigating life with a restricted allowance, Rhea openly discussed the challenges she faced and expressed gratitude for the difficult experience.

During a candid conversation with Chetan Bhagat on his talk show, ‘Deeptalk With Chetan Bhagat,’ Rhea revealed, “Due to COVID rules, I had to be in solitary confinement for 14 days. I was the only one in the room. I was asked if I’d like to have lunch. I was so hungry and tired that I ate whatever was given to me.” She disclosed that the menu consisted of roti and capsicum, ‘which was just capsicum in water.’

The actress shared that her positivity stemmed from observing her fellow inmates, stating, “I started feeling grateful when I saw that many prisoners don’t have family support. Or they don’t have Rs. 5,000 or Rs. 10,000 for their bail. At least, I have my family and friends. I told myself, ‘You will get justice. You will get bail. You have not done anything wrong. I have so much to learn from these women while I am here. Why am I wasting my time sulking about what is not in my control?’”

Addressing the conditions of toilet facilities in jails, the actress from ‘Chehre’ acknowledged it as “one of the hardest parts about being in jail.” She described the facilities as less than ideal but emphasized that the mental trauma endured was even more challenging than the physical aspects, saying, “Mental trauma is so much harder that the physical trauma starts paling in front of it. You think ‘Ganda bathroom toh manage kar lungi’” (I can manage a dirty bathroom).

Furthermore, she shared insights into the jail’s amenities, noting the presence of a canteen. Inmates were allowed to receive money orders from their homes, and she disclosed that she received a money order of Rs. 5,000 per month. Additionally, she mentioned that the jail continued to follow the system established by the Britishers in terms of food and bedtime.

In September 2020, Rhea Chakraborty found herself in custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau due to her alleged involvement in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The actor, who was dating Rajput when he passed away in June 2020, was arrested and spent 28 days in imprisonment before being granted bail. Regarding her daily routine in jail, she mentioned that breakfast is served at 6 a.m., lunch at 11 a.m., and dinner at 2 p.m., aligning with the British way of scheduling. The gates open at 6 a.m. and close at 5 p.m., allowing activities such as showering and visiting the library until then. Although most people opt to have dinner at 7-8 p.m., she altered her entire schedule, waking up at 4 a.m. and concluding her dinner at 2 p.m.
