Film director and choreographer Farah Khan is facing legal trouble after allegedly calling Holi “a festival for the chhapris” during an episode of Celebrity MasterChef on 20th February. As per reports, an FIR was lodged against her on Friday at Khar Police Station in Mumbai.
The complaint was filed by social media personality Vikash Fhatak, also known as Hindustani Bhau. He accused Farah of making a derogatory remark that could hurt religious sentiments.
Allegations Of Insulting Religious Sentiment
ABP News quoted Hindustani Bhau’s lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, as saying, “My client states that Farah Khan’s comment has insulted the religious sentiments of Hindus. Referring to a sacred festival as ‘Chhapris’ is highly inappropriate and could lead to communal tension.”
The complaint states that Farah Khan’s remark was offensive and disrespectful towards the Hindu festival of Holi. It urges the authorities to take action under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 196, 299, 302, and 353.
