New Delhi: The Hindi film industry can now once again rejoice as Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is expected to have a successful opening weekend on Friday, September 9. With one day left, the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer will make more money than blockbusters like Tiger Zinda Hai, Sanju, Sultan, and Dangal thanks to the film’s extraordinary trending with advance booking. It will rank among the top 10 advances of all time and has not only recorded the largest advance in pandemic times for Hindi films.

Brahmastra Advance Booking

Brahmastra had amassed a gross of Rs 6.60 crore on its opening day alone after selling roughly 1.97 lakh tickets at the three national chains, PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, as of Thursday morning. With this, the opening day nett revenue comes to Rs. 5.50 crore. Brahmastra is anticipated to sell more than 2.75 lakh tickets by Thursday night in the three chains, generating a gross revenue of just under Rs 10 crore, which will rank as one of the highest advance booking totals ever. With just advance booking, the IMAX version in particular is exhibiting an extraordinary trend, clocking 70 percent occupancy across India, and this will only increase on the day of release.

Regarding the opening weekend, Brahmastra has sold about 4.25 lakh tickets, bringing in a total of Rs 15.25 crore across India. The nett in advance for the weekend is in the neighbourhood of Rs 13 crore. If the movie receives positive reviews, the sky is the limit for the theatrical run as there is plenty of hype and excitement among the audience. By the end of Thursday, the weekend advance at just the three chains will be close to the Rs 20 crore mark, which is enormous to put it mildly. The advance trend indicates an opening upside of Rs 30 crore, and it will depend on how well the 2D versions perform in multiplexes and, more importantly, on single screens, to determine whether the movie can break records for opening weekends.
