Bengal Budget Session: West Bengal government has given joyful news to state government employees and pension holders. Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya on Wednesday presented the Budget for financial year 2023-24 in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. In her budget speech, she announced to hike dearness allowance (DA) by 3 percent.

The new DA rate will be applicable for all state government employees including pensioners. Bhattacharya presented the budget of total 3.39 crore in the presence of Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee.

No Income Tax for Tea gardens
Budget also proposed waiving agricultural income tax for tea gardeners for a period of two years. FM said ” West Bengal GDP is projected to grow at 8.4 percent.”
Center is also planning to hike DA
Narendra Modi government is also planning to hike the dearness allowance rate for almost 1 crore of Central government employees and pensioners by 4 percent. At present, Centre employees get 38 percent DA, if center would increase then it would go up to 42 percent.
