Kolkata: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alleges attempt to save the accused in the trainee doctor’s rape and murder. Expressing solidarity with the family of the victim, he condemned the rape and murder incident of the victim.
Reacting on the incident, Rahul Gandhi said that there was an “attempt to save the accused”. He slammed RG Kar Medical Hospital & the local administration in Kolkata and questioned their conduct to provide justice to the victim.

Rahul Gandhi said in his X post, “The entire country is shocked by the gruesome incident of rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata” He further said that the way the layers and the cruel and inhuman act against the victim are being revealed, it has created an atmosphere of insecurity among the doctors’ community and women.

Rahul Gandhi questioned the effectiveness of the laws after Nirbhaya’s Case and raised serious questions on the hospital and local administration. He asked about the strict laws made after the Nirbhaya case and the reason for its failure to prevent such crimes?
He emphasized on the importance of holding serious discussions and taking concrete steps by every party and section of soceity. From Hathras to Unnao and from Kathua to Kolkata, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the continuous increasing incidents against women.
Rape-murder incident in Kolkata
On the morning of August 9, body of the post-graduate trainee doctor was found in a seminar at RG Kar Medical Hospital in Kolkata. The victims’ postmortem report revealed that she was raped and murdered.
The report mentioned details like the woman bleeding from both eyes, mouth & private parts. The report revealed a horrifying tale of how the wounds were caused. Police arrested Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police in connection to the case.
