New Delhi: Once again, the saga of marriage with Shri Krishna emerges but in 21st century. The story is hard to believe but a girl from Rajput lineage in Rajasthan’s Kaladera, Pujasingh Shekhawat performed all rituals and married Thakurji.
Pooja (30) also comes from a Rajput lineage. Meera Bai was also from Rajput dynasty. MA Pooja Singh from Political Science performed marriage rituals with the deity of Shaligramji (Thakurji) sitting in the village temple.
Reiterating a verse of Meera, Poojasingh says, what should I be such a groom who dies after birth, I wear bangles to Shyam, my bangles become immortal…. Rituals ranging from Ganesh Pujan to Chakbhat, Mehendi, women’s music and pheras took place in the wedding.
Thakurji was brought as a bridegroom from the village temple to Pooja Singh’s house. Mantras were chanted and auspicious songs were sung. The father did not come, the mother performed the daughter-in-law by sitting in the rounds.
After this there was farewell. 11000 rupees for Kanyadaan and Jeweler on behalf of the family. Given. Thakur ji was given a throne and dress. Pooja herself filled her demand. Pooja Singh also filled his demand with sandalwood instead of vermilion.
This marriage is religiously valid: Acharya Rakesh Kumar Shastri told that the marriage of a girl with Lord Vishnu Shaligram ji is scriptural. It is exactly like the way Vrinda Tulsi married Thakurji to get the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
Such marriages have happened in the past as well. The details are given on page number 75 in the book Karmath Guru. Vishnu can get a girl married to God. Tulsi marriage is also a synonym of this type.
Pooja said, “I am 30 years old. Now no one can taunt me that even after being so big, I am sitting a virgin. I have made God my husband. Generally girls are married at the age of 20 to 25 years,” quoted Dainik Bhaskar.
“Its fragrance had already started in my house too. Relationships started coming only after completing college. But my mind was not ready for this. I have seen from my childhood that there used to be quarrels between husband and wife on very trivial matters, their lives were spoiled in disputes and women had to face very bad situation in these. I had decided not to marry,” she added.
