Uttar Pradesh: Rajender, a 28-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, used to work as a driver in a transport company. He was last in Faridabad for some work where he set himself on fire after his friend refused to give Rajender’s back phone to call his sister.
Police said he was taken to the Civil Hospital, from where the doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Rajender suffered 40% burn injuries but was reported to be stable.
Police said Rajender set on himself fire after an argument with his friend over a phone call to his sister. His friend Suresh Kumar said they both were drunk and when Rajender asked for his phone to call his sister he refused to give him the phone as he was too drunk.

According to media reports, Sube Singh, a spokesperson for Faridabad police said, “As soon as we received the information, a team from Sector 31 police station rushed to Safdarjung Hospital but the victim was not there, his uncle took him from there to their village Hathras for treatment.”
